My Journey 🌱

I’m Promise, a former Buddhist monk turned meditation and wellness coach.

When I was sixteen, I experienced psychosis, and it was hell 😔 I asked my psychiatrist, “How can I take better care of myself?” and was met with silence — no solution. I then saw two psychotherapists who had me ruminate out loud about my suffering while they scribbled I-dunno-what on their notebooks. I found that useless, and decided to take my mental health in my own hands.

I began to exercise. I found out about the mindfulness teachings of Zen master and peace activist Thich Nhat Hanh, and at age nineteen I decided to become a Buddhist monk.

In my sixteen years as a monk, I dug roots deep in Ancient Wisdom, particularly the original teachings of the Buddha; studied Recent Research in neuroscience, lifestyle medicine, and positive psychology; and Experimented with countless wellness practices. This unique combination of timeless practices, modern science, and personal experiments helped me sift out signal from noise, fact from fiction, and find Wellness Practices That Actually Work
