The Sprouting of an Idea
I remember exactly where I was in my room, as a seventeen-year old, looking out the window, thinking how mental health can be so damn tough, reflecting on the absence of guidance I received from my psychiatrist, and promising myself that if I survived and found stuff that helped, I would share with others. In the past fifteen years, I have learned from Buddhism (I’m a Buddhist monk), lifestyle medicine, positive psychology, and other healing traditions. Now I want to honor my promise.
I want to contribute to a Mental Health Revolution (MHR) by promoting an empowering, holistic, and positive approach to mental health.
I want to take the Daily Wellness Empowerment Program (DWEP) as far as life will allow me to.
And last but not least… I want to have fun doing it. 🙂
DWEP Updates
In the autumn, I offered the second pilot course of the DWEP, the wellness program I put together, and it went great. Thank you Mick for inviting me to share the DWEP again. The feedback has been extremely positive and included “This program has changed my life,” “It really influenced my daily habits,” and “I’m much more returned to health, much more positive.” You can watch participants’ testimonials here.
Many participants spontaneously taught the DWEP, in its entirety or in parts, to family and friends, because they saw it’s so simple, concrete, and helpful. Some participants also want to become DWEP Facilitators and spread the program more widely.
This morning, I published an introductory video to the DWEP on my YouTube channel, to explain what the program is and how anyone can start it. 🎁

The Future is Collaborative
I am just one person, and as hard as I may try, my time, energy, ideas, talents, and reach will remain limited. There are so many people out there, you included, who may have the heart to contribute time and energy to this MHR, good ideas I could never come up with, talents I would never have, and the ability to reach people I would never be able to reach.
Therefore this newsletter will not only serve to update you on MHR’s projects, but also to send a clear signal as to where we are going, why we believe it is important to get there, and how anyone whose life’s purpose resonates with MHR’s mission statement can tag along and help.

MHR’s Achievable milestones
Make the Daily Wellness Empowerment Program available online for free
I want anyone in the world with an Internet connection to be able to empower themselves with the DWEP’s ten self-care practices, for free. I already made available the DWEP Sheet, the DWEP Manual, and the introductory video. Videos on Sitting Meditation, the Hindu Squats and Hindu Pushups, and the Arms Swinging exercise are already in this playlist. I am currently scripting videos on the remaining DWEP practices. Create resources for DWEP Facilitators
Anyone who has been benefitting from the DWEP and has the aspiration to share it with others can become a DWEP Facilitator, without prior training or certification. Here is the DWEP Facilitation Manual I began writing. Please check it out and let me know what it is you need the most to become a comfortable DWEP Facilitator.
Have one DWEP Instructor per continent
To move from DWEP Facilitator to DWEP Instructor will require a bit of training and certification. We’ll figure out the details of this process later. We will reach a milestone when there will be one DWEP Instructor in North America, one in South America, one in Africa, one in Europe, one in Asia, and one in Australia. I prefer to have DWEP Instructors scattered over the globe rather than concentrated in one place.
Get the DWEP scientifically validated
Each of the ten DWEP practices is already backed up by science, but we still need to validate the program as a whole, together with its teaching methodology, on both non-clinical and clinical populations.
Get the DWEP into schools, prisons, hospitals,…
It will become easier to reach institutions once the program is somehow established and we have scientific evidence to back it up.
